DNS

Do you know how much your DNS setup impacts your services?

DNS plays a fundamental role in how the Internet works today. Without it, we would still be forced to remember raw IP addresses like 142.251.32.110 — or even worse, IPv6 addresses such as 2a00:1450:4025:804::64 — instead of simply typing google.com.

But DNS is not only about convenience.

It also directly affects the security of your e-mails and how they are recognized by receiving servers.

If your domain does not have properly configured SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records, you might be surprised how easy it is to spoof your e-mail address. This can lead to serious consequences — from personal issues to significant business risks. Without these protections, your domain is simply not trustworthy.

Let’s break it down briefly:

  • SPF defines which servers are allowed to send e-mails on behalf of your domain.
  • DKIM adds a cryptographic signature to your messages, proving their authenticity.
  • DMARC ties everything together and tells receiving servers how to handle suspicious messages.

Now imagine your domain has all three correctly configured.

What happens?

Your e-mails become trusted.

Providers like Gmail, Outlook, or web.de can clearly verify that:

  • the sender is authorized,
  • the message is properly signed,
  • and the domain follows modern security standards.

As a result, your messages are far less likely to be marked as spam — and much more likely to be delivered successfully.

In many cases, it’s just a small fix that makes a big difference.
